Bart Anderson - The Crown Jewel of Southern Utah

The Crown Jewel of Southern Utah is, without a doubt, Bart Anderson.  He has been Utah’s brightest gem for the past quarter of a century.  Not only does Bart have luster, but he is rare, increasing his worth one hundredfold.  Bart Anderson is my friend.

In my early twenties, our first and only house was located in Sand town, and it was our good fortune to live across the street from the Bart Anderson family.  Bart was a wonderful neighbor, always preparing for the next adventure.  Our children grew up together.  I might add that his children were also definitely unique.

Bart has been the recipient of every notable award given throughout the state, as well as being recognized on the national level.  He was a torch bearer in the 2002 Olympics.  Now what an honor that would be.  In my mind, Bart is one of the most worthy examples of selflessness I have ever known.

Bart and Delorice are, in my opinion, two of the finest ambassadors for Utah and Southern Utah this state has ever had.  The Senior Sampler describes Bart as a “community treasure.”  According to Mayor Karl Brooks, he is “one of Dixie’s greatest natural resources,” and now, according to Ted Spilsbury, he is “the crown jewel of Southern Utah.”

I am pleased that Bart will be the benefactor of a benefit dinner.  He is in such need because he has completely worn himself out, telling the story of Utah.

It is our turn to give back a little.  I encourage all who read this message of appreciation to contribute generously to help Bart with his medical and living expenses.  A truly rich man he is.  He is also a humble and good man in need of assistance.

The Bart Anderson Benefit will be March 8, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., at the Sun River Community Center.

I am honored to be one of Bart Anderson’s friends.  May the good Lord bless him and this wonderful, beautiful community in which we live.

Sincerely,

Ted Spilsbury
